Helping Families Prepare for the 2026 School Year

Beginning in 2026, the Queensland Government will introduce new financial supports to help families with school-related costs. These initiatives are designed to make it easier for students to access the essentials they need for a successful school year.

Back to School Boost

From 2026, families with primary school students in Prep to Year 6 will receive a $100 Back to School Boost. This payment is intended to help with the cost of school essentials such as stationery, uniforms, and other supplies. Eligible families will receive the allowance automatically.

Textbook and Resource Allowance

Families with secondary school students will continue to benefit from the Textbook and Resource Allowance, which assists with the cost of textbooks and learning materials. Parents may receive the payment directly or choose to have it applied as a reduction in school fees. Students attending non-state schools are also eligible; however, parental consent is required if the school is to manage the funds on their behalf.

Supporting Every Queensland Student

These allowances highlight the Queensland Government’s commitment to supporting families and ensuring that every student starts the school year with the tools they need to thrive.
