Celebrating Our Reading Champions

Throughout the The Premier’s Reading Challenge, many students have achieved milestones worth celebrating. Whether your child has read consistently, begun reading more independently, explored a new genre or shared a favourite story with someone else, every step forward deserves recognition.

Home educators are encouraged to celebrate these achievements throughout the reading period or at the end of the challenge. Ideas include:

• Selecting a Reading Champion of the Week
• Inviting your child to read aloud to family members
• Asking your child to create an alternative blurb for a favourite book
• Encouraging siblings to nominate one another for a Reading Champion award
• Holding a family awards ceremony at the end of the challenge

Reading Hero badges and awards can be printed from the Premier's Reading Challenge website and presented to students in recognition of their effort and progress.

By celebrating milestones both big and small, families can help nurture a lasting love of reading that continues well beyond the challenge.
