What an Incredible Year for Pedal Prix at Faith Christian School!

What an Incredible Year for Pedal Prix at Faith Christian School!
Graeme Johnston, Principal

2024 is the third year of Faith Christian School's Pedal Prix program.

The team grew from 8 students to 12, and entered two teams: Senior Boys and Junior Boys (we can have girls in the Boys' teams). We competed in 6 of the 9 events with 71 teams from 25 schools, State Catholic and Christian Schools. The teams completed thousands of kilometers on track and traveled from the Gold Coast to Townsville to compete.

The Senior Boys Team competed in 7 events against 22 teams, winning four races and earning the fastest lap in four as well. They came 2nd in the category and second in the state. Their rival all season, Mackay North State College, won the season by a single point in the final event in Brisbane! 207 to 206. There were late nights, technical issues to resolve, flat tyes and a few roll overs but a might result for “Lionheart.”

The Junior Boys Team competed in six events against a field of 17 schools, coming 2nd or 3rd in all but one race in their Trike “Strength and Courage”. This team also loaned students a few times to the Senior Team as needed. Their dedication to the school and team spirit was obvious. As a school, we clearly demonstrated Christian Character as at times some competitive teams can get a little pushy on track and the response from our teams was that while winning is great, demonstrating kindness and Christian grace was far more important. It is common to see our students helping other teams in pit lane and on the track, especially the overnight events where everyone is stretched and tired.

Our parents were a first class pit and road crew, driving, setting and packing up, repairs and tyre changes, food and muscle recovery routines. This was especially important as I was needed to help run several of the events and our school takes responsibility for the organisation of the State Competition. We even opened a number of the events in prayer, a great Christian witness all across the state!

End-of-Season Party

In October, the Faith PedalPrix team and families got together for a fun day at Kingston Park Raceway to try some motorised racing! All year they have successfully completed in trikes that are human powered. This day they had an engine behind them and had 4 short races. The students and some parents joined in and it was a fun day!

Mrs Johnston won the "Most Improved on the Day" award and had the fewest spinouts! We followed up with a great lunch, trophies for the team and thank yous for the parents who drove, cooked, set up the pit lane and kept the trikes in good shape. Our Captain, Alex, prayed over us and thanked God for His many blessings. We look forward to a bigger and better season in 2025!

Kart Racing Leader Board!

Looking forward to 2025:

  • We are getting a new Matrix Pro Trike, more aerodynamic, faster and lower. It is No 316 (Think John 3:16!)

  • We are adding a Primary Team (Years 5/6) in 2025 with a Trike designed just for them.

  • Brisbane Enduro’ may be at the new Murarrie Olympic Criterion track! We have applied and it is looking positive.

  • We are upgrading Comms in 2025 to make riding better for our students.

  • We are building a better events trailer that will serve Athletics, Cross Country and Pedalprix/ 6m long, 2m wide and 2.1m high. Students will even be able to charge their devices in it at events!
