Faith Students Take on the Kokoda Challenge

Faith Students Take on the Kokoda Challenge
Faith News

On Friday 7 June, three teams from Faith took part in the 2025 Kokoda Challenge.

This event pushes physical and mental endurance while raising funds for youth programs. Our students tackled both the 30km and 48km distances with incredible determination, teamwork, and spirit.

Meet the Teams

We had two teams participate in the 30km challenge:

  • Team 1: Abi, Declyn, Eden, Dayna, and Ms Anna Davies
  • Team 2: Shiloh, Charlotte, Zoe, Lisa, and Mrs Bernadette Smith

And one team take on the gruelling 48km course:

  • "Faith Not Sight": Ms Zara Di Bella, Lochlan (Year 8 student, completing his third Kokoda Challenge), Remi, and Chloe (who completed 30km last year with Faith)

Every Step Counts

We are so proud to announce that all teams successfully crossed the finish line! Special mention to Ms Zara Di Bella's team, who not only walked 48km in 16 hours and 45 minutes but were singing along the trail, embodying the spirit behind their team name, Faith Not Sight, inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:7 - "For we live by faith, not by sight."

The 30km teams also gave incredible performances:

  • Ms Anna Davies' team completed the track in just 7 hours and 34 minutes
  • Mrs Bernadette Smith's team followed closely, finishing in 10 hours and 51 minutes

Hearts for a Cause

One of the students, Abi, reflected on the experience, sharing that hiking has changed her life. Her impact reached beyond the trail as she also placed 4th in Queensland for fundraising, demonstrating her heart for the cause.

Despite the exhaustion, our students showed resilience, courage and unwavering perseverance by simply putting one foot in front of the other. We are so proud of every student who participated. Your effort and spirit are a true reflection of our Faith community.
