Stepping Into the Final Chapter | Year 12 Welcome Day

Stepping Into the Final Chapter | Year 12 Welcome Day
Kathryn Hale, Head of Senior Studies

Our recent Year 12 Welcome Day was a meaningful and memorable start to the final year of schooling for our senior students.

Centred on the theme Godspeed / Kairos, the day invited students to reflect on God’s perfect timing and purpose, drawing from Ecclesiastes 3:3–7 — a reminder that there is “a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Senior teachers shared personal testimonies of their own learning journeys, offering honest reflections on perseverance, growth, and faith. Practical guidance on study skills was woven together with biblical journaling, encouraging students to anchor their academic efforts in prayer, reflection, and Scripture as they navigate the demands of Year 12.

Community and celebration were also key features of the day. Students enjoyed a lavish morning tea of jam and cream doughnuts (enthusiastically requested by Mr Fanning), followed by pizza for lunch, providing time for connection, conversation, and laughter. Each student who attended received a Godspeed pin and journal, a small but meaningful reminder of the encouragement, faith, and unity that marked the day.

A particularly special highlight was the presence of past Year 12 students, who returned to support and encourage the current cohort as they begin their final year. Their willingness to share experiences and reassurance helped reinforce a strong sense of continuity and belonging within our senior community.

We were delighted to see such strong engagement, with 46 students attending in person and 39 joining online, reflecting the commitment of our students to begin the year with purpose and intention.

As we look ahead, we are excited for the journey to come and the upcoming Year 12 events throughout the year — including our Masquerade-themed Graduation Night, which will be a fitting celebration of growth, achievement, and God’s faithfulness at the end of the year.

We continue to pray God’s blessing, wisdom, and peace over our Year 12 students as they step forward into this significant season of their lives.
