World Scholar's Cup Triumph at Faith!

World Scholar's Cup Triumph at Faith!
Mrs Adriana Savvides, Gifted and Talented Coordinator / EALD Coordinator

2026 marked a landmark year for Faith, as we proudly entered our first-ever teams in the World Scholar’s Cup - and what a debut it was! Our students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, curiosity, and determination, delivering outstanding results against fierce competition from across the region.

With the global theme “Are We There Yet?”, students were invited to explore big questions about progress, change, and humanity’s journey through history, science, social studies, the arts, and debate. Over five intensive weeks of preparation through a co‑curricular club, our scholars built knowledge, sharpened skills, and forged exceptional teamwork - setting the stage for an unforgettable competition day.

Our Teams

Faith was represented by two outstanding teams:

  • Junior Team: Samuel Marriott (Year 6), Flynn Hammel (Year 8), Caleb Darrah (Year 8)

  • Senior Team: Shiloh Rudd (Year 11), Jerome Kong (Year 9), Megan De Sousa (Year 10)

At the event, our students competed against 64 junior teams and 54 senior teams, taking on four demanding disciplines:

  • Collaborative Writing

  • Scholar’s Challenge (a 120‑question interdisciplinary exam)

  • Scholar’s Bowl (a rapid‑fire team quiz)

With Thanks and Pride

I extend my heartfelt thanks to the staff who coached and supported our scholars: Ms Talitha Macpherson, Mrs Jacqui du Toit, Mrs Vicki Field, and Mr Steven Gill. Your time, expertise, and encouragement made a world of difference. I also sincerely thank the families who supported students in attending the event and sharing in this exciting day.

I am incredibly proud of the way our students represented Faith with integrity, courage, collaboration, and a genuine love of learning. This remarkable first outing at the World Scholar’s Cup has set the bar high, with both teams qualifying for the prestigious Global Round, and we eagerly look forward to building on this success at next year’s event.

Faith scholars- what a journey, and what an achievement!
