Faith News

Meet Mr Daniel Smith

Growing up on a dairy farm on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Daniel never imagined he would become a teacher. But thanks to the advice of his school Career Advisor, he studied at Christian Heritage College and discovered a passion for education that has guided Daniel's 30+ years of teaching and leadership.

Having served in schools across Queensland, Daniel spent 23 years at Citipointe Christian College in a range of roles, including classroom teacher, Mathematics, Science and STEM specialist, and senior leadership positions overseeing technology, administration, and staffing.

Daniel is our Director of Teacher Support and Training, and together with his wife, Bernadette (also a Primary School Teacher at Faith), they have three adult sons and three grandchildren. He is deeply grateful to God for His faithfulness and feels blessed to be serving at Faith in this exciting season of ministry and education.

More about Daniel

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

Working with such authentic and caring staff. Their genuine love for students is so evident in everything they do.

What is a fun fact about you?

I grew up surfing, boxing and playing rugby league. Now days I spend my time wishing I didn't do two of those things and never stopped doing the other.

What inspired you to work in your current role?

My wife. Seeing the change in her and the enthusiasm she had for her new role after 23 years of teaching... She was a walking billboard!

Where is your favourite place on earth and why?

Being back home on the farm. The feeling of connection. Though travelling the USA on a Harley was pretty awesome too.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

That moment when you see in their eyes that they have understood something which previously eluded them. The "ah ha" moment

What is your favourite book or film and why?

'The Chosen' (not really a film but...) I love the way Jesus is brought to life and portrayed as full of compassion, fun, joy, and just generally someone I would like to be more like.

What is your favourite Bible verse?

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God with be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
