Meet Mr Peter Langshaw

Mr Peter Langshaw is one of our wonderful Senior Secondary Teachers at Faith!

Looking back, it's a bit daunting to realise that I've been a teacher for more than half my life. But when I crunched the numbers in early 2025, that’s exactly what I found. Now, I’m not sure when I got old, but I still see myself as relevant & down-to-earth - despite being closer to sixty than I'd like to admit. I guess I’ve taken some life lessons from my Youth Pastor, who, at 71, is still bringing kids to Christ.

My mission is to guide students toward a deeper understanding of Year 11 & 12 Maths while being a genuine, approachable, dad-joke-loving Christian teacher.

Over the years, I’ve taught every level of Maths, from Year 7 through to third-year university courses. My students have ranged from those attending Christian schools to second-language learners studying abroad for a year. Beyond Maths, I’ve also taught Information Technology, Media Production, and even… Drama. I believe my experience and sense of fun are what keep me going - and, more importantly, keep my students learning.

More about Peter

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

Teaching in an online learning environment and challenging students to own their learning because of it.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love performing and had the privilege to sing for an audience of 5000 once. Oh how I wish I could have bottled that joy.

Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?

On stage with the audience's full attention because bringing characters to life, or singing for people brings them joy and therefore brings me joy.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

The "Aha!" moments we have worked at together through the quagmire of "What are you teaching me!?!?!"

What is your favorite book or film and why?

Not one book - the author - Terry Pratchett - and his vast Discworld series. I love his work mostly because you are ill-advised to read Pratchett on public transport as sudden outbursts of uproarious laughter will lead to embarrassment.
