Meet Mrs Bernadette Smith

Mrs Bernadette Smith is one of our wonderful Primary Teachers at Faith!

Bernadette has been a Christian teacher for over two decades. She believes that Christian education has the power to transform the world. Before being led to join Faith Christian School of Distance Education, Bernadette served at Citipointe Christian College. Most of those years were spent in lower primary refining her teaching of the core subjects and fulfilling a diverse number of roles, including roles in Pastoral Care, Administration, Technology and Project Implementation.

Bernadette's heart is for her students. She seeks to develop her student's confidence and assist them to grow spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

Outside of school, Bernadette's time is spent with God and family. She enjoys adventures and travelling. Bernadette takes every opportunity to teach her grandchildren about God and His ways. She adores nature and acknowledging the beauty God has created in the everyday world around her.

More about Bernadette

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

I love the flexibility that Faith offers its students and families. I believe that Faith is a God send for families that God calls to walk a different path.

What is a fun fact about you?

I had a pet kangaroo as a child.

What inspired you to work in your current role?

I believe God brought me to Faith for its faith, flexibility and family friendly approach to education and life.

Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?

My favourite place on earth is with my family. They are the most precious people to me. At the end of my days I will never have had enough time with them.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

The most rewarding part of working with students is seeing their development and growth. Seeing their 'ah ha' moments - when something clicks and they feel a sense of accomplishment.

What is your favorite book or film and why?

My favourite book is the Bible. It's the best book to read. Value per page - priceless. My favourite films are Mamma Mia and the Pitch Perfect series. They are light hearted, have singing, dancing and beautiful scenery.
