Meet Mrs Lynette Johnston

Hi, my name is Lyn, and I’ve just come on board as the School Nurse.

I have been a Registered Nurse for many years and felt God called me to nursing as a young girl. I have worked in many different settings as a nurse, including respiratory medicine, cancer care, aged care, and stroke rehabilitation. I then joined 13HEALTH as a tele-triage nurse. I studied Child, Youth and Family Health as a postgraduate at QUT. From there, I became part of the Child and Family Health team in Central QLD (Emerald), as well as the School Nurse at Emerald Christian College. I love working with children of all ages - from one day old to 92 years old!

I enjoy seeing people empowered to self-care and thrive in God’s best life for them. I care deeply about the health and wellbeing of all individuals.

The image features "Mrs. Lynette Johnston, School Nurse" and promoting a "Faith Feature Friday" event.

More about Lyn

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

My role at Faith has been as a volunteer with the Pedal Prix teams. I love the way Faith offers so many adventures to children, teens, and young adults, as well as flexible learning environments.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love jigsaw puzzles, reading, board games, and creating and making craft activities for my grandchildren. I run an arts and craft workshop at Greenslopes Mall during the school holidays as part of the Women’s Creative Centre.

What inspired you to work in your current role?

Seeing how wonderful the Faith students and families are at Pedal Prix races and feeling part of the team.

Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?

The beach. I love watching the waves roll in - whether rain, thunder, or sunshine. I feel so close to God as I look out at the vastness of the ocean.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

Seeing them lead, succeed, become resilient, and grow into wonderful, mature young adults ready for the world.

What is your favorite book or film and why?

Cool Runnings is one of my favourite films. My heroine is Florence Nightingale, and my favourite book is The Bible, of course.
