Meet Mrs Margaret Darch

Mrs Margaret Darch is one of our wonderful Senior Secondary Teachers at Faith!

I have taught for nearly 20 years - starting in Western Australia and then in QLD. I completed a Science degree majoring in Human Anatomy & Physiology and then did a Dip Ed before I began teaching Science in Geraldton State High School (W.A.). In my teaching capacity, I have taught Science, Maths & English.

In between starting teaching and picking it up again, I have had a family (all adults now), been the registrar of a Bible college, been a pastor, been a personal assistant for the CEO of a chocolate company, and done all sorts of things in all sorts of places with all sorts of people!

I grew up in Perth, sailing, playing netball, tennis, swimming, playing piano & doing Girl Guides. Growing up in the 70's, I travelled all around Australia - especially the outback and off the beaten track with my family (I have climbed Uluru twice). I have been married now for 35 years; have 3 wonderful children and 3 gorgeous grandchildren (so far). I love people & I love teaching young people!

More about Margaret

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

I love teaching Science in a fun way and having students interact back!

What is a fun fact about you?

I played tuba in highschool and I scuba dive for a pastime. Now I'm a Grandma - so I LOVE time with my daughters 3 gorgeous kids.

What inspired you to work in your current role?

I'm a big believer in flexible education - to suit everyone's uniqueness. As a Christian, it's important to be able to answer the big questions about life (as well as the small ones) with Jesus firmly at the centre.

Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?

I love living on the Gold Coast & going to the beach in summer and the mountains all year round. But I love to visit other places - both in this great land & abroad. I have a real soft spot for country Australia - its rugged beauty & down-to-earth people.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

Seeing the 'lights' go on when a new concept is really understood - that "I can do it!" moment. Also seeing students gain confidence in themselves and believe in themselves. There's nothing like it!

What is your favorite book or film and why?

I love reading biographies and stories that are written from real life events - that inspire me and showcase what real love looks like. I am enjoying watching 'The Chosen' about the life of Jesus - it's brilliantly done!
