Meet Mrs Roxanne Blank

Mrs Roxanne Blank is our wonderful Year 9 Coordinator, as well as our Head of English for Prep - 9.

From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. At 17, I left home to pursue that dream, and looking back on nearly 40 years in education, I feel incredibly blessed by the many opportunities I've had along the way.

I began teaching in Prep and have since taught every year level up to Year 10. Through it all, it's the students who have made the journey truly worthwhile. I have a deep passion for inspiring a love of reading in my students.

In my own time, I enjoy sewing, cooking and reading works by Christian authors, historical fiction and travel blogs. My husband and I lead a busy life, keeping up with our four adult children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren. Sharing meals with family and friends brings me so much joy. Whenever we have a spare moment, we love to travel and go cycling together.

What do you love most about your role at Faith?

Working with both students and colleagues.

What is a fun fact about you?

Several years ago, I cycled the Camino Portuguese Way with a group of friends. The first day was tough. Every school and bus was closed due to cyclonic conditions, however, we had to ride all day to the next destination. The camaraderie and challenge of the journey are experiences I will always treasure.

What inspired you to work in your current role?

English has always been my passion. When I was younger it was a subject I had to work hard at and I have always remembered the struggles. This has motivated me to support all learners in their endeavours to succeed in this subject.

Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?

Walking along or sitting at the beach is one of my favourite places to be. It calms my soul and brings me closer to our Creator God.

What is the most rewarding part of working with students?

I will never tire of witnessing those magical 'aha' moments when a student suddenly grasps a concept and everything clicks into place. This results in a gain in confidence and trust in their ability to succeed in whatever they put their mind to.
