Duke of Edinburgh Registration Information
Congratulations on choosing to sign up for the internationally-recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award Program!
We hope that you will find it fulfilling in setting your individual goals in each of the category areas and rewarding in working towards achieving them. All Duke of Edinburgh awards are very much individual, meaning that you set your own goals and work towards achieving them. Faith as an Award Provider will run multiple Adventurous Journeys throughout the year where you can come and share your Duke of Edinburgh Journey.
Step 1
Fill in the Application form. We will then email you a parent registration and consent form to sign. We will need both these tasks completed before you can move to Step 2.
Step 2
Have a look at the Award Handbook, which will give you ideas for activities that qualify for the different sections of the program. You need to come up with your own individual plan of what activities you can do to fulfill each section. Faith Christian School will be helping to track your progress and organise the adventurous journey components, so we will work together here to help you. Someone from our organization should be able to answer any of your questions as well.
Step 3
Complete your individual bronze and silver award plan. Here you need to identify in each section (Skills, Volunteer Service and Physical Recreation) an activity that you can work on each week. You need to be able to put aside and log 1 hr in each of these fields per week or 2 hours every fortnight. To achieve the bronze award, you will need to do this for 3 calendar months or 13 weeks. Yes, you can have breaks over the holidays, but you need to be working towards your goals.
You will also see a field that says "assessor". This can be a coach, mentor or someone outside your parents that can help you over this journey. They will be the person who oversees your commitment to 1 hr a week and can support you when needed. This person will verify your time commitment.
Step 4
Get your assessor / coach / mentor for each of the three fields to sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct. They will need a blue card and this helps to articulate their role and responsibilities.
Step 5
After these steps are completed, our administrative team will sign you up to the Online record Book, which will help you to log the hours and track your progress.
All the best on your Duke of Edinburgh Learning Journey!
