Time Allocation for Primary Students by Learning Area

In order to assist families in understanding time allocations for each subject and an overall weekly time allocation, the following tables below have been created. These times are based on the allocated times expected in Australian curriculum. When writing the units and workbooks these time allocations have been our guide. The allocated time includes the coursework and the live lesson time. If your student is able to complete the work in less time that is fine. 

If you are finding that your student is taking noticeably longer than the allocated time, please speak with your teacher. Understanding this will assist the teacher in identifying any areas where your student may need additional support, whether that support be in the approach to learning or in time management. We trust that this information will assist you in planning your weeks. Please reach out to your teacher if you are needing additional support in managing the teaching load.

Prep to Year 2 Students

Maths	4.5 hours
Science (Term 2 & 4 only)	2 hours
HASS (Term 1 & 3 only)	2 hours
Health & Physical Education	2 hours
Technologies	30 minutes
The Arts (Music, Drama, Dance, Visual/Media Arts) ( 1 subject per Term)	0.5-1 hour
Overall Weekly Time allocation: 16.5 - 17 hours

 

Year 3 to Year 4 Students

Health & Physical Education	2 hours
Technologies	1 hour
The Arts  (Music, Drama, Dance, Visual/Media Arts) ( 1 subject per Term)	0.75-2.25 hours
Japanese	1 hour
Overall Weekly Time Allocation: 20.75 - 22.25 hours
