Welcome from the Deputy Principal

Welcome to Senior Secondary at Faith Christian School of Distance Education.

The Senior Secondary School is a wonderful stage of a student's development as they blossom into a young adult.  At Faith Christian School we provide academic, social, physical and emotional growth through a Christian Worldview.

It is my prayer that our Faith students receive an exceptional education and a better understanding of who they are in Christ.

-Douglas Stuart-Adams, Deputy Principal Senior School

At the beginning of 2022, I started as Deputy Principal of Senior Secondary where we have noticed many families are seeing the benefit of an online education.  With around 440 students in Senior Secondary, we offer a range of courses to meet the needs of families living and working around our state of Queensland and beyond.  All these courses are recognised by Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) including a number of VET courses offered by our in-house RTO team.  We offer subjects like English (General), Mathematical Methods, Biology, Ancient History etc.  Also we offer courses like Certificate II in Applied Digital Technology, Certificate II in Community Services, Certificate III in Business or even Certificate IV in Screen and Media.  Be sure to browse our Course Offerings  for more details.

We offer academic support to our students through teachers and advising staff such as careers department, pastoral care team, etc.

All of our teachers are qualified through Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) and are easily reachable through regular office hours by emails and/or a digital phone service.  We are an accredited academic institution that has undergone rigorous checks and evaluations from an objective outside authority on education.  It shows that this school meets high standards of a quality curriculum that has been carefully designed to help your student excel.  So if you are transferring from another recognised school to Faith or looking to start applying for jobs or colleges, you can rest assured that Faith is respected by other schools and organisations. Our aim is to enable students to transfer their learning to new contexts and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

At Faith we build personal connections with our students through community.

Students connect through a myriad of opportunities like joining online with home classes, prayer opportunities, assemblies, live lessons, tutorials, clubs such as the Dog Club or Chess Club and catch up support sessions if required.  We offer many different types of face-to-face opportunities including Year 11 and 12 Workshops, Intensives, Alpha, bushwalking, sports carnivals around the state, sports events such as bowling or archery, Pedal Prix, Kokoda Challenge, Lions Youth of the Year, leadership camps, outdoor camps, open water scuba diving camp, abseiling days, mountain bike riding days, mission trips and even ski trips to New Zealand.  Even at the regional exam centres, students catch up. We conduct awards nights around the state for the Prep to Year 11 students. A highlight of every year is our Graduation and Awards Night Service including a formal dinner where we celebrate with our Year 12 students and families.

Our internal curriculum in years 10-12 is initially drawn from ACARA/QCAA documents, where they are then developed through a Christian Worldview.

Curriculum is released on our learning management system including recorded lessons.  These lessons are rigorous, engaging, promotes curiosity and help students learn critical thinking skills whilst developing skills to empower them to be successful after graduation. Year 10 we transition the curriculum from some workbooks to a fully online curriculum in Years 11 and 12.  Students have 24/7 access to their resources.

Faith has a flexible senior school that enables a student to achieve their best through Christ.  A student's program is designed through their Senior Education and Training Plan (SETP) to meet the needs of each individual student while allowing you to integrate our academics into your schedule even through the busiest seasons of life.

With open hands, I would love to welcome you and your student to our school.  Please contact us at any time with further questions you may have.

In Christ,

Douglas
