CUA20720 Cert II in Visual Arts

In addition to a laptop with a microphone and headset for attending lessons, students will need to purchase wet and dry media, equipment, and surfaces they will use to complete the tasks included in the course. 

It is suggested that students purchase these items Term by Term. Any student who does not have the required media, equipment, and surfaces, within 14 days of the commencement of each term will be removed from the course and replaced with another student due to limited spaces available for this course.

Students will connect online for Interactive Live Sessions (ILS) for the purpose of learning and training.  The ILS are for 1 hour on Mondays and Wednesdays and include using a webcam and a microphone, using a headset with both is also an option. During the Interactive Live Session students will be introduced to basic creative arts making materials and techniques by watching demonstrations, share the work they have made with other students in the course, and have the opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback from the trainer and other students.

Students must attend these Interactive Live Sessions and have no other external obligations at that time. Interactive Live Sessions include live training and cannot be completed by watching a video after hours. You must attend the first session with a Notebook and Pen.

Just like in any workplace, Students in this Vocational Course are required to attend their interactive Live Sessions consistently, participate in class discussions and work together with their colleagues. Students who do not attend 80% of the interactive sessions may not be eligible to complete the Course.

Students will also be required to do practical tasks which may take up to 2 hours each week. 

All evidence of the student completing a practical task must be uploaded into Learning@Faith

Term 4

Finalise portfolios, both hard copy and digital versions.

Students will be introduced to art history and theory to inspire them.  Students will be learning about art styles and art movements that will influence the art works they make/produce.

Students will learn about colour and how to use the colour wheel. Students will also be introduced to colour as a symbolic representation and how this has been used in the Word of God.

Students produce work samples as part of the training to demonstrate their skills using media and techniques covered in the course. Students use their work samples to inform how they will make their final artworks with a focus on communcating ideas.

During the course and upon completion of set tasks, students will create a folio of the work samples and visual artworks they have produced.  The folio is evidence demonstrating the skills they have developed through making and experimenting.

The folio will be compiled in both a hard copy and a digital version.

On completion of the course, students may decide to enrol in the Certificate III in Visual Arts course in the following year to investigate and explore visual arts making further and develop their personal creative art making process.
