Set up and run your own business with this practical course built for young entrepreneurs.

During this course, students set up and run their own real business — not a scenario or simulated business.

Students learn how to identify and evaluate business opportunities, organise finances and resources, address business requirements, develop a digital presence, market their business and deliver a service to customers.

The course takes an entrepreneurial approach and is taught from a Christian worldview, encouraging students to consider both enterprise and service as they develop their business ideas.

The overall aim is to learn business by doing business. Assessment is practical, with students completing real tasks involved in establishing and operating their business rather than traditional essay-style assignments. Activities include:

• developing a Lean Canvas,
• preparing a marketing plan,
• building a website,
• working with a business coach and
• delivering a service to customers.

Throughout the course, students are encouraged to learn from both successes and setbacks, reflect on their decisions and continue developing their entrepreneurial skills and business ideas.

Course Requirements

• Opened to Years 10-12 (Year 10 students may be considered for early entry after presenting their business idea via an online video meeting
• Be prepared to develop, establish and operate a real business throughout the course
• Actively participate in compulsory live online classes, including discussion and collaborative activities
• Work independently and complete regular practical business tasks and assessments
• Be able to meet course deadlines and apply feedback to the ongoing development of their business.
