SIS30321 Cert III in Fitness

Online with in-person component

This course prepares students to enter the fitness industry as skilled group fitness instructors through a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience.

The Certificate III in Fitness is designed to equip students with the foundational skills necessary to lead group fitness sessions and support clients in achieving their health and wellness goals. Throughout the course, students explore fitness program instruction, healthy eating guidance, and leadership in various group exercise formats such as freestyle, circuit-style, HIIT and pre-choreographed classes. Emphasis is placed on developing practical capabilities in conducting fitness assessments and creating gym-based programs for clients of all ages and fitness levels.

Students will participate a three-day intensive workshop held in Week 6 of Term 1 at a location in the Brisbane area. During this workshop, they will conduct body composition assessments (e.g., BMI, body measurements, blood pressure), lead supervised exercise sessions, practice communication and coaching skills with real clients, and gain hands-on experience in fitness instruction and program delivery. The workshop also includes the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course (incurring an additional cost). Attendance is compulsory, as this is the only opportunity for students to complete specific assessment tasks.

This course is available to students in Years 11-12. Upon completion, students will receive a nationally recognised qualification and earn up to 8 QCE points.

This qualification opens pathways to employment in gyms, fitness centres, and community organisations, and also serves as a stepping stone to further study in the health and fitness sector.
