This program provides Year 10 & 11 students with an opportunity to develop and practice their ministry and Christian servitude skills through a local mission trip within a rural Aboriginal community. This experience will enhance and enrich the students’ understanding of what it means to be a Christian as they express God’s love and grace, as ones who have received it, to those who need it.

Please note: to get the most out of the Mission trip, students will be strongly encouraged to attend the follow-up Mission trip planned for later in the year (Part 2), which will take place in Term 3 Week 8 – Thursday 31 August to Sunday 3 September 2023. (More details to follow)

In order to be eligible for the follow-up mission trip, students must have attended this trip.

Through this Mission trip, students will have the opportunity of being exposed to, and serving in a culture different from their own. By emerging and educating students in this complex community, we aim to develop relationships, compassion and understanding while striving towards a better shared vision. This directly supports the School’s objective to develop “confident and creative individuals” as well as “recognising the importance of different learning styles, the importance of success in learning and the importance of our faith in God.”

Program Aims:

  • Create an inclusive environment where we share and build relationships, understand culture and create learning experiences that bring us closer to God.
  • Develop student capabilities in leadership, Christian characteristics and complete elements of the practical units from the Certificate III in Ministry
  • The opportunity to lead small group activities, lead/play worship, lead games/activities and assist with running a Church service (Youth or Sunday morning).
