What to Expect: A Look Inside Faith’s Unit Workbooks

Rita Rosehr, Faith’s Deputy Principal of Curriculum and Teaching & Learning P-9, gives an overview of the unit workbooks, including summative assessments, key features and more!

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

– Isaiah 40:31

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What other equipment do I need?

Check the requirements page for a list of current essential requirements and recommended items for learning at Faith.

  • What is the difference between formative and summative assessments?

Summative assessments feed into the students’ grades, whereas formative assessments do not. It is important for your child to complete the formative assessment when it is due to allow time for your teacher to best support student progress before the summative assessment. Formative assessments allow teachers to ascertain how well students have grasped the knowledge and skills that are needed in order to successfully complete their summative assessments.

  • Where and how do we return Faith Resources?

P-6 Unit Workbooks that are distributed each term are intended to be written in and are for one-time use. These do not need to be returned.

All other Faith Resources (novels, science kits, musical instruments, math counters, textbooks, etc.) are borrowed items and must be returned at the end of the term, semester or school year. You can return resources in the following ways:

    • Post resources to Faith’s PO Box: PO Box 105, Kingston, QLD 4114
    • Give resources to Faith staff at a Regional Workshop or Event
    • Hand resources to your teacher at your next home visit
    • Email/chat with your teacher to make arrangements that suit your family

Questions about returning Resources? Contact our team at resources@faith.qld.edu.au

  • What electives can my student choose?

In Year 9, students select their elective subjects. These subjects are in addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History and HPE.

In Year 10, students study three core subjects (English, Science and Mathematics 1) and can then choose a minimum of two electives. These can include VET courses, created by Faith’s RTO.

In Year 11-12, students have a fully customisable course load. To select courses for Years 11-12, students work with Faith’s Future Pathways Officer. Email future.pathways@faith.qld.edu.au for more information.

  • Where can I find the Senior Secondary booklists?

All Booklists can be found on our Resources Library page.

  • I have multiple students enrolled at Faith. Will I need multiple logins?

No, just one! Your parent dashboard will show all of the updates you need to know for each child, as well as filters to view region-specific news and events!

  • Is Learning@Faith secure? What about my child’s data privacy?

Data security and privacy is one of the key reasons we chose SchoolBox to power Learning@Faith. Schools across Australia rely on SchoolBox for their 24/7 management of performance, uptime and security.

  • ⭐ Do I need to order printed workbooks for my Primary student?⭐

No, if your student is in Prep to Year 6, you will receive a pack of printed workbooks by default, as it is a key component of learning in Primary. This is included in School fees and will be sent by our Resource Team to the postal address on file (no opt-in necessary).

  • ⭐ When will I be able to see my student’s timetable?⭐

Initial student timetables will aim to be released to the Learning@Faith dashboard on Friday, 19 January. Please note that timetables are subject to change after the first day of School, and may continue to be updated.
