Video Transcript

Welcome to Week 4, Term 2, 2023 at Faith Christian School! Lots of things are happening! Recently, we had our Easter holiday, and one of the things I like to do is to read a good book. This is one of the books I read recently about Churchill and Australia, and he had a lot to do with our country.

Premier’s Reading Competition

Speaking of reading, we have a Reading Challenge you can get involved with: the Premier’s Reading Challenge! The information you need can be found here on our website. Also please let the Librarian know, so she can register you reading books. The more books you read, the better, so have a go!

Parent Advisory Group

Over the last week or so, we started our Parents Advisory Group, and thank you to Mark Dunnett for leading that up and getting those things going. The group involves two parent representatives from each region who work to implement new improvements for Faith Families. Part of their role is to receive and sort suggestions of improvement submitted by parents.

We’ve had some really good input from our parents and hearing the things that are happening from a parent’s point of view. I’m looking forward to seeing more and more of that happen over the next couple of months, helping our School listen and care about what parents experiences are at home. Please keep getting involved with sharing your feedback.

Easter Colouring-In Competition Winner

Thank you to everybody for colouring in for the Easter Colouring-In Competition, and our winner is, and I’ll just get it for you… Alex R. in Year 2! So, well done to Alex for doing a great colouring-in, we’ll send a prize through to you for doing that excellent activity!

Tip of the Month

The last thing I wanted to mention is that raising kids and teaching kids is quite a complex process, so we’ve had some suggestions sent to us and we’re doing a Tip of the Month! Every month, we’re going to give you a little bit of information about some advice we thought you might find useful in teaching kids at home.

Hi, I’m Christine Scott, I’m one of the Teachers here at Faith Christian School of Distance Education. Motivating your teen can be a challenge. What works best is getting to know them and their goals, and then reframing your goals in a way that makes sense to them. Once you’re both aiming for those same goals, the rest is just details!

Devotions

I’d just like to finish with a Bible Verse that means a great deal to me, John 3:16, because it talks about our Salvation, how Christ paid the price for our sin. One of the great things about being a Christian is that we don’t have to earn Salvation, it’s a free Gift from God. He paid the price for our Salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

-John 3:16, NIV

But we’re saved for a purpose. After we’ve been saved, our job is then to go and do something with that Salvation, and that’s one of the great things about Christian Education, is that we’re being trained to go out into the world and do something of value, because we don’t have to worry about earning it, its price has already been paid. All we have to do is act, knowing that God will give us everything we need to carry out those actions.

Have a great week, everybody, we’ll see you in Week 5!

– Mr. Graeme Johnston, Faith Christian School Principal
